Besides its classrooms for 3-6 year olds which are the nucleus around which LMS operates, we are dedicated to sharing Montessori insights and philosophy with the Lincoln community at large. The following are some of the ways in which we reach out beyond the classroom.
Is it Right for your child?
Lincoln Montessori’s Find Out More About Montessori class is designed to acquaint parents and their children with the Montessori classroom and approach to education. It began as a ‘trial class’ in the spring of 2007 and has been well received by families new to Montessori. The class usually meets in the late afternoon when the facilities are available and when children who nap after lunch are up and alert
Once a week for four weeks, parent(s) and child spend time together exploring the Montessori classroom under the guidance of our Montessori directors. As the children become more comfortable in the classroom, parents are encouraged to move into the office area where staff and perhaps a mom or dad with experience as a parent at LMS is available to answer theoretical and practical questions about Montessori education.

The class offers a fail-safe method of looking into Montessori education and allows parents and children to see for themselves, with no further obligation, what Montessori is all about.
PARENT COACHING CLASS
Is a four session course for parents who would like to learn to use Montessori Methods with their children at home.
You will learn how to take daily activities – such as getting dressed, sorting laundry or gardening – and break them down into manageable steps that every young child can learn to master. At Home With Montessori runs for four weeks and is offered in the fall and spring. Classes are held at the Lincoln Montessori School and are led by classroom director Larry Verschuur or other Montessori trained personnel.

MONTESSORI AFTER SIX
Is a four session course for parents of six to nine year olds who would like to anticipate the needs and expectations of children in the second plane of development.
As children turn six, they enter what Montessori termed the second phase of development. The psychological and social needs of the children change as do the ways in which they learn. These changes are explored in the company of Mary Verschuur, an Association Montessori International trained and experienced elementary Montessori directress. The class is offered annually during the spring semester.
